FFG is featuring tastings from small, artisan, local winemakers for a month of Sundays throughout the year. From 11-3pm each sunday taste some of the under the radar labels available in McLaren Vale and beyond as they pour their wines and tell their story….This month, along with Brash Higgins and Five Geese we feature another Vale Cru Member- Waywood Wines
WayWood Wines is a new wine label created by Andrew Wood and Lisa Robertson. Sharing a passion for wine, the pair set out on an amazing journey of travel, tasting and education. WayWood Wines is the culmination of their wayward odyssey.
Andrew, originally a Sommelier in London, chose the dawning of the new century to follow his dream and retrain as a winemaker. After vintages in Portugal, United Kingdom, Italy and the Granite Belt in QLD settled in McLaren Vale early 2004. They have concentrated on ”wayward” varieties such as Tempranillo and Cab Franc along with classics when the vintage provides the quality necessary to produce wines of character and excellence.
Wine production is small batch, utilising cold soak and extended maceration techniques building character and structure, to enhance the wines ageing potential and personality.
